Thanks Ned but you missed the point entirely.
1) It will cost more to collect the GST on imported goods under $1000 then it will raise, clearly this makes no sense and someone with your intelligence can clearly see this is not viable.
2) Imported goods are often 20-80% cheaper even when GST is factored in so charging GST will not stop people from importing goods direct as the goods will STILL be cheaper. What this has to do with 10% margins is beyond me but you are confused as to what is occurring here.
3) Most computers and electrical goods from places like Harvey Norman have a much bigger margin then 10%, more like 50%.
4) GST already applies to all imports EXCEPT personal imports under $1000.
5) Less then 2% of retail spending is spent overseas, that's right less then 2%.

Most computers/electrical good are sold at 10% margins in Australia - the 10% GST is the difference between being profitable and going broke.
Of course it would be fairer to Australian businesses if the GST was to apply to all imported good - 10% margins ARE important.
Most comments and the artice are self serving and quite childish - understand some economics before you do the me me me comments.
Australia is very small and our local jobs and suppliers need some protection.

The GST on imports is simply a no brainer. Anyone arguing against it is simply an uneducated and selfish person with no long term view.

Chris, I have just tried with also the new Nexus S and it's not working.

I am not actually getting the green circle (re below instruction insert). It was there before I deleted the default, does anyone know how to get that set, as maybe that's the problem?

Also the APN Protocol is set to IPv4 and I can't choose None, is that a problem?
Thank you.

They're not listening to their customers at all. Their customers (especially elderly and disabled people) want their parcels to actually be delivered rather than having to pick them up themselves. This is just an extension of the current system where lazy posties put a card in your letterbox without even attempting to knock to see if you're home.

Aus Post need to realise that it's their job to deliver, not to expect us to pick things up.

The following worked for me:
1. Login with a yourmailaddress@google.com account as primary e-mail account
2. Download an app using app store, this should work
3. Delete the yourmailaddress@google.com
4. add your yourmailaddress@yourdomain.com

Somewhere i suspect you col skip step 2. , but i did it anyway.

After these steps my android market worked using my google for my domain e-ail address. I only was missing android market functionality, so if you want to use some picasa functionality try the procedure in the article.
