A DVD-Rom drive is NOT a Mass Storage device. It IS however a removable media device.

Which defeats the point as this thing is making it so you don't need to use the default Wii DVD-Rom drive.

A DVD-Rom (i.e the disc itself) usually can only be read to once, unlike a Mass Storage device like a typical HDD that which has constant read and write access.

Also the disc needs to be burned to WBSF in the case of a Wii Game for the console to actually recognize it as a legitimate Wii game, since this the Wode is merely tricking the console that a USB HDD or Flash is it's native disc drive.

It's because of the WODE the system does not need homebrew and will outright recognize games installed on a device on the Disc Channel.
